Shifty Sailors Maritime Museum Benefit

The Shifty Sailors are returning to Newport for a benefit performance of maritime songs and sea shanties.

Friday October 11 @ 7PM at the Doerfler Family Theater. Tickets are $15 (17 years old and younger are free) and can be obtained at the Maritime Museum or online using the form below.

About the Shifty Sailors: Formed in 1993 the Shifty Sailors have been featured singers at Festivals, Events, and Celebrations at Seaports on both coasts of the US, Hawaii and Europe. While they sing a few traditional sea Shanties, their performances celebrate almost anything dealing with the sea. This includes lighthouses, shipwrecks, fishing, military, whales, folk songs, and even a few drinking songs! Accompanied by group leader Vern Olsen’s “Squeeze-box” and guitars, the Shifties have a style all their own. The group of 20 men reside on Whidbey Island and have recorded five popular CDs.  For more on the Shifty Sailors contact Vern Olson: 360-632-5713 volven@whidbey.net or visit: www.shiftysailors.net.

About the Doerfler Family Theater: The Doerfler Family Theater (DFT) is a state of the art, multi-media center and theater which officially opened June 4th. The DFT features a stunning panoramic view of Port Dock 5 and Yaquina Bay, making this theater a perfect venue for the Shifty Sailors’ celebration of everything maritime. The theater is a complete rebuild on the site of the Old Smuggler’s Cove Bar.

The Shifty Sailor concert will benefit ongoing renovations at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center. For more information or to order tickets by phone (Wednesday through Sunday) call 541-265-7509.
