Pacific Maritime Heritage Center’s new sign installed
Opening Friday, August 5, 2022: The Sustainable Feast, OSU’s Art about Agriculture exhibit at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center
Art About Agriculture’s annual exhibition of agriculture and natural resource-themed artwork by Oregon State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences will run at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center from August 5 to September 30, 2022.
The theme of the 39th annual juried competition and touring exhibition is “Sustainable Feast,” and it presents art from Northwest artists whose work explores food production and consumption, sustainability, diversity and innovation in our food system.
This year’s open call for artwork received 290 responses from artists in Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. The tour will include artwork by artists from 12 Oregon counties, five Washington counties and one county in Hawai’i.
“I am continually inspired by the many varied interpretations of our calls to artists to submit creative work for the Art About Ag program,” said Owen Premore, directing curator of the program. “The ability for art to uniquely capture the tension between demanding economies and delicate ecosystems as we ponder the meaning of a ‘sustainable feast’ is truly powerful.”

Susan Tissot Hired as new Executive Director
The Lincoln County Historical Society is pleased to welcome Susan M.G. Tissot as the new executive director of their organization as of May 2, 2022. Tissot is a graduate of Oregon State University, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Tissot is no stranger to Lincoln County, as she previously worked at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in the 1980s in exhibit development.
Returning to her professional roots with more than 30 years of experience, including 19 years of executive director experience in museums in five western states — including Clark County, Wash., and Coos Bay, Ore. — Tissot brings with her an impressive list of qualifications in museum development, grant writing, fundraising and nonprofit management.

New Exhibit Opening at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center
FINDING OUR WAY: Navigating Life at the Edge explores Lincoln County’s shared maritime past
The Lincoln County Historical Society is excited to announce the opening of our new exhibit FINDING OUR WAY: Navigating Life at the Edge on September 17, 2021. Exhibitions staff are looking forward to sharing a fresh look and exciting new research in the main gallery at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center. FINDING OUR WAY will include new artifacts, photographs, and displays about the culture and history of life along Lincoln County’s coastline and waterways. Visitors will learn more about the challenges and accomplishments of Lincoln County’s early residents presented through a narrative that honors diverse perspectives.
A free public opening reception is currently scheduled for September 17, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center.
Masks and proof of vaccination are required to attend.
Onsite parking is available, and all Historical Society buildings are wheelchair accessible.
