As we welcome spring, we turn our focus to our 9th Street property. We have completed several major projects at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center over the past few years that took much of our attention, and it’s time to address some of the below issues. Click on the image above, send a check to the address below, or stop in to the PMHC to contribute.

Log Cabin
The Log Cabin Research Library safekeeps some of our most precious historical documents, photographs, maps, and other archives related to Lincoln County. Artifacts had to be moved this winter because of a leaky spot, which is the main fix we need to address. This 1964 Log Cabin needs a lot of attention, including an outdoor fence to keep people from vandalizing the back of the building, which has been an ongoing problem. Someone recently made a small fire back there and smoke entered the archives, which highlights the need for a fence.

Burrows House
The 1895 Victorian Burrows House Museum houses a large portion of our collection in its basement, comprehensive exhibits on the history of Lincoln County on the main level, and offices upstairs. Some of the major needs are patching some leaky areas on the roof, repairing the sagging office area carpet, pressure washing mold and interior painting.

Carriage House
The Carriage House sits next to the Burrows House Museum and stores artifacts on two levels. The first level holds larger objects, paintings, farming tools, and logging equipment. Upstairs are textiles, baskets, and other sensitive objects. We need to purchase special shelving for our framed historic painting collection to properly care for them, and fix some ongoing leaks in the attic.

Old City Shop

The Old City Shop, as the name suggests, was originally the shop for the City, and now stores some of our larger objects, like farming equipment, a 1931 Model A truck, a handmade wooden boat, and more. This space needs a lot of work to patch up all leaks, among other needs.
