Join us for a World Ocean Day Childrenโs Celebration on Saturday, June 8th at 2pm at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center on Newportโs Bayfront. This free event will feature childrenโs book author, Sara T. Behrman, reading her new book, The Sea Hides a Seahorse, illustrated by Melanie Mikecz. Saraโs interactive program highlights engaging information about seahorses, marine education, and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of her book will be donated to support marine education and seahorse conservation. There will also be a craft activity, ukulele-accompanied seahorse songs, and book signing. Joining the stage will be childrenโs musician, Linda Yapp. Linda will play fun and engaging ocean themed childrenโs music that your children can sing along to!
We are also excited to announce our grand opening of our new childrenโs area. Volunteer, Joe Novello, and Curator, Sachiko Otsuki, developed our new childrenโs interactive fishing boat and fish market.
